PROJECT DESCRIPTION

IPG provided design and construction administration for this 8,200 SF renovation and 12,000 SF addition of Wing 12A at Carl Vinson Medical Center. The new 40 bed Nursing Home Care Unit is in compliance with VA “Patient Privacy” Standards. The wing was expanded and renovated to provide a 40 bed general nursing unit in a configuration similar to the recently completed Wing 10A. The project involved preliminary site survey work, analysis of utility systems, structural analysis, removal of existing partitions, removal of existing mechanical and electrical systems, and removal of exterior walls for the new construction area. The expansion of 12A included a one story superstructure to match the existing wing, the installation of a fully sprinkled system, refurbishing and installing interior partitions, and HVAC systems. IPG design challenges included: Providing more beds; providing additional private rooms with private baths; providing more fixtures and more maneuvering room in the congregate bath.
